Online Translation Memories

  • MyMemory by Translated.net: Around 100m segments by end 2008. Anyone may consult or contribute, although contributions are carefully vetted for quality. Supports instant creation of customized memories for specific jobs which may be opened with any CAT tool. Systematically searches and downloads translated pages, which are classified by source, subject and quality.
  • Translation Search Machine (Beta): TSM searches web pages that have been translated into several languages, and it's estimated that by the end of 2008 around 60% of all translated web pages will have been indexed.
  • Webitext: search engine for aligned bilingual text on the Web.
  • Open-Tran: multilingual search engine with full access to the translations of many open source programs.

  • Internet Archive: Digital library of Internet sites and other cultural artefacts in digital form. Like a paper library, we provide free access to researchers, historians, scholars, and the general public.
  • INFOMINE: Virtual library of Internet resources relevant to faculty, students, and research staff at the university level (contains databases, electronic journals, electronic books, bulletin boards, mailing lists, online library card catalogs, articles, etc.).
  • Scirus: Over 450 million scientific items indexed: journals, scientists' homepages, courses, pre-print server material, patents and institutional repository and website information.
  • ScienceResearch.com: Access to numerous scientific journals and public science databases.
  • National Academies Press: Free access to more than 3,700 books online. Topics are science, engineering, and health.
  • ERIC (Education Resources Information Centre): Access to more than 1.2 million bibliographic records of journal articles and other education-related materials and, if available, includes links to full text. U.S. Department of Education, Institute of Education Sciences (IES).
  • HighWire Press by the University of Stanford: Access to 1129 journals and 4,735,437 full text articles from over 140 scholarly publishers (1,875,058 free articles).
